We're standing in the factory.

Most agents forward your brief to a trading company and email you the reply. Vumego walks the floor in Guangzhou — holds the sample, negotiates the price, watches the loading.

RISK LEDGER

The four classic import traps. Covered.

A

Middlemen posing as factories

A polished website and a "factory tour" video prove very little. Plenty of "manufacturers" are trading companies adding a silent margin.

HOW VUMEGO COVERS IT

We verify the business licence in person and stand on the actual production line before a deposit moves.

B

Perfect sample, imperfect bulk

The golden sample is hand-finished by the best person in the building. Mass production is a different building on a different day.

HOW VUMEGO COVERS IT

Pre-shipment inspection against the approved sample — before the container is sealed, not after it lands.

C

Prices that quietly grow

The quote was for the base spec. Then comes tooling, packaging, "material adjustments", and a port fee nobody mentioned.

HOW VUMEGO COVERS IT

One number, quoted up front, negotiated face to face. Changes get explained before they get invoiced.

D

Surprises at the border

Missing certificates, wrong HS codes, unpaid duties — goods that sit in customs cost money every single day.

HOW VUMEGO COVERS IT

Compliance and documents prepared before departure, duties itemised in your quote. Boring paperwork, done early.

PRICING PHILOSOPHY

Priced per order. One number.

No percentage of a supplier invoice you never get to see. You get a quote for the whole job, up front, and the supplier relationship is yours to keep.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Asked often

The factory sets the MOQ, not us — and it varies wildly per product and material. We tell you the honest number upfront, including when a lower MOQ means a worse unit price, so you can decide with real information.

Sourcing and samples: typically 1–3 weeks. Sea freight China→EU: roughly 5–7 weeks door-to-door. Air freight: days, at a price. We map the timeline into your quote so the trade-off is explicit.

Prepared before departure — HS codes, certificates, declarations — and duties are itemised in your quote so the number at the border is the number you already saw.

Yes. No lock-in. The supplier relationship is handed over to you — name, licence, direct contact. If we've done the job well, you'll come back because it's easier, not because you're trapped.

The inspection is designed to catch it before the container is sealed. If something still slips through, we handle the claim with the factory honestly and in person — that's what being there is for.

Send the brief. Get a real answer.

Even if the honest answer is "don't make this product." An honest no is part of the service.

PROCESS · FULL TRANSPARENCY

Six stages. One person answering.

The process isn't the secret. Being there is. Here's exactly what happens to your order — and what quietly doesn't.

01
YOU → US

Brief

You send the product, the target price, the quantity, the deadline. We ask the questions that change the outcome — materials, tolerances, packaging, certification — before anything moves.

TYPICALLY 2–4 DAYS
YOU RECEIVEA written spec sheet you approve before anyone quotes.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGYou describe a feeling, not a product. We turn “something like this” into materials, dimensions and tolerances — misread it here and every later step is wrong. That's why you sign off first.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Guessing your own spec sheet
  • Quotes for the wrong product
  • Weeks of alignment emails
02
GUANGZHOU · FOSHAN · SHENZHEN

Source

We shortlist factories by walking markets and floors, not by sorting a B2B platform by price. Real capability, real capacity, real lead times.

TYPICALLY 4–10 DAYS
YOU RECEIVEA shortlist of 2–3 real factories, with photos taken by us.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGHalf of “factories” online are trading desks. We filter by what we can verify on the floor — machines, staff, output — not by whose listing ranks highest.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Resellers posing as factories
  • Listings with fantasy prices
  • "Yes we can make that" that means no
03
IN PERSON

Verify

Business licence checked in person. Production line stood on. Sample held, weighed, bent, compared. Only then does a factory make the shortlist.

TYPICALLY 3–5 DAYS
YOU RECEIVEA walkthrough report: line photos, machine list, working-conditions notes.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGA polished showroom can hide an empty workshop. We visit unannounced where possible; if the floor doesn't match the story, that factory is out.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Video-call "factory tours"
  • Photos of someone else's machines
  • Deposits to the wrong company
04
FACE TO FACE

Negotiate

Price, tooling, packaging, payment terms — agreed across a table, written down, one number. Changes get explained before they get invoiced.

TYPICALLY 5–12 DAYS
YOU RECEIVESample photos/video, agreed unit price, tooling costs in writing.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGThis is where prices quietly grow — tooling, moulds, “small” surcharges. Everything lands in one written quote before you commit a cent.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Surprise tooling invoices
  • Chat-app negotiations lost in translation
  • Prices that quietly grow
05
BEFORE THE SEAL

Inspect & ship

Pre-shipment inspection against your approved sample. Export documents filed early. Then sea or air — booked, tracked, documented at cost.

SEA 5–7 WKS · AIR 3–7 DAYS
YOU RECEIVEPre-shipment inspection report, packing list, live tracking link.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGDefects discovered in your warehouse are too late. We inspect before the container closes — problems get fixed in Guangzhou, not in Rotterdam.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Defects found in your warehouse
  • Goods parked at customs
  • Freight invoices you can't read
06
YOUR DOOR

Delivered

Cleared, delivered, closed out — with the supplier's name, licence and direct contact handed to you. The relationship belongs to the client.

SAME DAY
YOU RECEIVEThe supplier's full contact card. It's yours to keep.
WHAT CAN GO WRONGMost agents guard the factory contact so you can never leave. We hand it over — if we're worth a second order, it won't be because you're locked in.
WHAT YOU SKIP →
  • Agent lock-in
  • "Our supplier" secrecy
  • Starting from zero next order

Stage one starts with an email.

Tell us what you want to make. We'll answer like we're already there — because we are.

THE COMPANY

European on paper. Guangzhou on foot.

The entire risk of importing lives in the gap between a European desk and the factory floor. We closed it by being there.

THE DIFFERENCE

Desk sourcing vs. ground sourcing

THEM · FROM A DESK IN EUROPE
  • Searching B2B platforms, sorted by price
  • "Verification" over a video call
  • Judging quality from photos
  • Negotiating in a chat app, across a language gap
  • Inspection outsourced to a stranger with a checklist
  • Emails, time zones, and waiting
VUMEGO · ON THE GROUND
  • Walking the markets in Foshan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou
  • Licences checked in person, lines stood on
  • Samples held, weighed, bent, compared
  • Negotiating face to face, across a table
  • Inspecting against your approved sample ourselves
  • Already in the building

Paperwork done early is margin protected.
